Product Type: Credit Repair and Disputation Service
I don’t know about you, but for me it was a rude awakening to
realize that my credit score was holding me back from getting the
type of credit I needed – so I began my journey to getting this
“handled” by searching online for the top credit repair services –
only to be confused on how to really get my credit fixed once and
for all.
When I went around searching for “Lexington Law Firm” credit repair
service reviews what I found was a bunch of people saying “you don’t
need a credit repair service, you can write your own credit report
dispute letters”.
So, I took their advice and with a little more research found some
credit repair form letters and went to work – only to have the
credit bureaus literally laugh in my face by sending me back their
own form letters saying my dispute was frivolous.
After three months of them literally doing nothing but violating my
rights to dispute negative credit report items – and in desperation
I hired Lexington Law Firm to see if their claims were real. In this
report I’ll show you exactly what happened and hopefully help you
skip all the mistakes I’ve made along the way while attempting to
fix my credit report once and for all.
Believe me, if you do any of your own credit repair company research
you’ll be overwhelmed with all the misleading info and overall
negative comments people make online – even telling you that credit
repair is illegal and not to mention an outright scam (I have my own
ideas now, which you’ll see below).
There I was taking their advice, trying to write my own dispute
letters and getting absolutely no results. My only other option was
to pay the money and see if they REALLY can repair my credit because
at that point I had nothing to lose and everything to gain --
especially after being a victim of the credit bureaus dispute games.
Ok, here’s my real experience and real review below – so let’s first
go over what Lexington Law Firm Claims to be able to do for you;
|
Lexington Law
leverages your consumer rights and our
unparalleled experience to engage the credit
bureaus and your individual creditors. We work
on your behalf to remove questionable negative
items from your credit reports.
Your credit
score is a key factor in determining the
interest rates you pay for cars, mortgages,
credit cards, and other loans. For as low as $39
a month, you can get help taking control of the
credit files that largely dictate your monthly
interest payments.
The numbers
speak for themselves. In 2007 alone, Lexington
Law successfully removed over 600,000 negative
items from our clients credit reports.
If our service
doesn't deliver, our no-risk refund policy will.
Lexington Law will refund some or all of your
money if enough disputed items are not deleted
from your credit reports.
|
Now let’s be honest, it DOES sound a little too good to
be true (especially if you believe the online naysayers who
think that writing their own credit dispute letters is easy)
so if you’re like me you’ve spent some time on Lexington Law
website reading about all of the things that can and can’t
be done legally to repair credit.
Believe me, I’m going to lay it all out for you here as to
whether this was just some crusty old boloney sandwich or if
it really delivered the credit fix I needed.
Ok, let’s dive in and pick this thing apart and find out if my
money (and yours too) was and will be well spent.
The Lexington
Law Firm, Credit Repair Service - Review
Lexington Law Firm has a 4 step process once you signup
which can present some confusion if you don’t pay attention
to the process and what you are REALLY required to do to
begin disputing items on your credit report.
The Fair
Credit Reporting Act: (FCRA)
One of the first things I did was attempt to read the FCRA
put out by the government with the intention to help protect
consumers from unfair credit reporting practices.
Believe me when I say, it’s not easy to read – but what I
DID take away from it is this simple fact that supports the
claims of Lexington Law Firm;
“the law
states clearly that a consumer can dispute ANY item on their
credit report and that if the item is found to be
inaccurate, incomplete or cannot be verified then it must be
removed”
It’s really as simple as that. Of course to be honest with
you (and I’m speaking from experience) the credit bureaus
will do their best to make you go away, and put you off as
much as possible.
That one fact made it hard for me to get any traction with
my own dispute letters, however with a legal firm behind me
(even if it was just a paralegal working on my case) the
credit bureau was only shooting themselves in the foot by
not responding to the Lexington Law Firm dispute requests. I
say that because when I had decided to work with Lexington
Law Firm they followed up properly to the credit bureaus
stalling tactics and gave the whole process more teeth and a
harder bite – something I could not have done on my own with
form letters.
Here’s How
The Process At Lexington Law Firm Works;
Step One:
Forward Your Credit Reports
Lexington Law can’t do anything for you unless they have
actual copies of all three credit bureau reports. When I say
all three I mean a separate report from TransUnion, Experian
and Equifax which are all three of the main credit reporting
agencies.
When you signup with Lexington Law Firm they’ll give you
some recommendations on where to get copies of all three
bureau reports you’ll need -- so pay attention to that
process because without copies of your reports nothing will
happen.
Once you have the credit bureau reports (remember to get all
three) then you’ll want to make yourself a copy and send
Lexington Law Firm the “actual” copies via overnight mail (I
used FedEx). I spent the extra money to send the documents
overnight because I wanted to get started immediately. I had
already wasted enough time trying to write my own dispute
letters and I wanted some fast results if I was going to get
any at all (which you’ll see in a minute).
Step Two:
Choose Which Items To Dispute
What happens after they receive your credit bureau reports
is they create an online account for you that lists all
negative items and then they’ll email you the login and
access information.
Be ready for that because I didn’t realize it up front – and
I waited a week to log in and verify the information. Watch
for their email giving you online access to the negative
items on your credit bureau reports.
Once you get access, the process is to login and check off
the items which you want to dispute. In my case I disputed
everything because after reading the FCRA like I stated
above I knew that the law was on my side.
Be sure to choose all items you want to dispute and
Lexington Law Firm will start the dispute process in a very
methodical manner. I noticed that they only disputed one
thing at a time and that they started with the negative
items that would have the most impact on my credit score,
such as items that were included on all three reports. I
think I read somewhere that if one credit bureau removes a
negative item that the rest of them have to follow suite so
that makes sense what they were doing.
Step Three:
Lexington Works Your Case
Here’s where I dropped the ball a little bit because it
wasn’t clear what I was supposed to do. Not really their
fault but mine for not paying attention or thoroughly
understanding what I should be doing. Hopefully this review
will help you avoid the mistakes I made.
Here’s an insider tip: Lexington Law will only dispute one
item at a time so when you receive correspondence from the
credit bureaus you absolutely must immediately forward those
letters directly to your case manager at Lexington Law Firm.
The reason for that is this; they can only do their job if
you do yours, which is to keep them in the loop. If
Lexington Law Firm doesn’t know what the credit bureaus are
sending you, they can’t follow the legal process of
disputation and removal and protect your rights.
I was thinking they were doing all the work and I was just
waiting for results – however now I know that if you are
going to have success with them you have to IMMEDIATELY send
the letters you get from the credit bureaus directly to your
case manager the day you get them (again, I used FedEx
overnight delivery).
Step Four:
Watch For Updated Reports
At first I noticed that the credit bureaus would send me
form letters saying things like “your dispute was rejected
and is considered frivolous” and “warnings about using
illegal credit repair services” – which after forwarding to
my case manager at Lexington Law Firm promptly stopped.
Apparently Lexington Law Firm made them realize they were
violating my fair credit rights.
What happens next is you’ll start getting updated copies of
your credit bureau reports showing the result of the
disputes, which takes 30-60 days. The credit bureaus will
send you these and you need to immediately forward them to
your Lexington Law case manager. Remember to send the actual
reports and letters and not copies. You can make copies and
keep the copy for yourself but be sure to send the actual
letters to your case manager.
That’s the entire process you’ll experience.
As you can see, working with a credit repair firm such as
Lexington Law Firm is not a set it and forget it type of
process. You absolutely must be involved and understand the
process at hand.
Here Are My
Actual Credit Repair Results:
-
Total
negative credit report items I had = 17
-
Total
negative items removed from my credit report(s) = 17
-
Total time
I spent having them removed = 18 months
My credit score increased over 200 points, and the biggest
total increase after one deletion was 62 points.
Note: I
could have completed the process 6 months or more earlier if
I had known what I know now (and what you now know) based on
steps one through four shown above saving me about $234,
maybe more.
In my experience, it’s totally legal and fully within your
rights to dispute negative items on your credit bureau
reports (by all means read the FCRA like I did if you need
to) and remember that if something is inaccurate, incomplete
OR cannot be verified it MUST be removed. It’s the law.
Period.

Repair With Lexington Law Work For Everyone?
The majority of people starting out with Lexington Law Firm
will probably make the same mistakes I made, and spend more

effort and more importantly action.

pitfalls and where you can almost certainly do better than I
did – simply by avoiding my mistakes.
Do it wrong and you could lose hundreds of dollars in no
